    FOREVER YOUNG

Forever Young fellowship group, established in 1999, meets once a month for lunch and a tour of somewhere of interest to the group.  The group is comprised mostly of senior citizens, but anyone of any age is welcome to join us on any of our tours.

In the months of January, February and March, we meet at the church for lunch and either a card game, bingo or a speaker.

Interesting places that we have toured include Ye Olde Mill in Utica, The Sholtz Mansion in Zanesville, Malabar Farms near Mansfield, The Piatt Castles near Bellefontaine, Anthony Thomas Candies, and the Columbus Washboard Co. in Logan.

Upcoming tours for this year include Kingwood Mansion and Gardens in Mansfield, Roscoe Village in Coshocton, The Longeberger Homestead in Dresdon and the Wyandot Popcorn Museum in Marion.

In December of each year we have a very nice catered Christmas luncheon at the Wagnalls Memorial Community Building in Lithopolis and then enjoy singing Christmas Carols.

We average 20 individuals in attendance at each of our events and usually have about 40 in attendance at our Christmas luncheon.

We would like to invite anyone who is interested in becoming a part of our group to please come and join us for a time of fellowship and enjoyment.

Pam Ward is the Coordinator of Forever Young.

    ALTAR GUILD

David Lutheran Altar Guild meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at the church at 1:30 p.m., except July and August.

Our main purpose is to care for the altar, including the paraments, candles, and flowers. Marilyn Badurina takes care of the flower chart for the year.  We make Chrismons for the Chrismon trees, make the baptismal banners, and help wherever we are needed.

We always are looking for new members, or if you would like to help with the altar care, please let one of us know.

    REBEKAH CIRCLE

The Rebekah Circle meets at 11:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. We meet in either the fellowship hall or the Ridenour Chapel for a light lunch, Bible Study, and a business meeting. We welcome anyone interested in joining us for Bible Study and fellowship.

This past year's study focused on the book of Acts.  We had guest presenters twice to provide our Bible Study.  Pastor Gard provided September's study, and Pastor Bull presented our November study.

Rebekah Circle member Ruth Ann Smith handles the volunteer schedule for the Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry.  We also purchased toilet tissue and macaroni and cheese for the pantry.  Each Circle member adopted one of our shut-ins for a one year period rather than the whole group preparing remembrances for each special holiday.  A new cookbook was ready for purchase in October.  Rebekah Circle was responsible for the entertainment at the David Lutheran Church Mother/Daughter Banquet.  Debbie Clement, singer and songwriter, did a great job entertaining the children and adults in attendance at the banquet.  The Circles worked together on the Thankoffering/Harvest Home worship service.

Monies were donated to help purchase items needed for Lutheran World Relief Health kits.  We also donated money to the LYO Adopt-A-Family Fund at Christmas, and provided money for the purchase of a new acolyte robe.  This year we served a meal for the Farm Bureau Membership Kick-off, a funeral dinner, two Lions Club dinners, and a Lenten Soup and Sandwich.  In June, we provided a cake for birthdays at Lutheran Senior City.

Members of our Circle volunteered their time, and provided funds for Vacation Bible School.  We donated baked goods for the Confirmand Reception and the Preschool Thanksgiving Teas.  At Christmas, we adopted two residents at Luther Home of Mercy and provided them with gifts.  We also provide Luther Home of Mercy with craft materials and miscellaneous other items.

We donated help, monies, and/or materials to the following groups and organizations this past year:

  • Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner
  • Choir Festival
  • David Lutheran Church Father/Son Banquet
  • David Lutheran Church Mother/Daughter Banquet
  • Choices
  • Jeanne Schacht is the Chairman of Rebekah Circle.

    LAF (LUTHERAN ADULT FELLOWSHIP) GROUP

The LAF or "Lutheran Adult Fellowship" Group is a fellowship group open to all single and married adults.  We meet once a month in a member's home and the meeting date/time is selected by that particular month's host.  The majority of the members of this group serve the church in various ways such as church council, church boards and leading youth organizations.  Our activities focus around Christian fellowship and sharing our faith with each other.  Each activity contains the following components:  devotion, fellowship, and food.

Our group has been blessed by the many people who have shared their home.  Our prayer is that each participant grows in their personal relationship with God.  We extend an invitation to all David Lutheran Church members, potential members, and visitors.

    is the coordinator of LAF.
