We believe that our faith in Jesus Christ leads us into action, particularly those actions that reveal our love, care and concern for others. At David, you will discover many opportunities to put your faith into action both inside the congregation and out in the community and world. Below, you will discover a number of places where you can serve your neighbor nearby and in the larger community.
2016 Youth Summer Mission Trip- Indianapolis
July 5-9, twenty-four middle and high school youth and six adults participated in a Youth Works Mission project in Indianapolis. Working at various sites, the fed hungry people, helped build a house in an impoverished neighborhood, visited nursing home residents and worked in the community. It was a growing and faith-building experience for everyone. Check out the Youth and Family pages for information on upcoming service opportunities for youth.
Canal Winchester Food Pantry
Through Canal Winchester Human Services and in partnership with the Canal Winchester – Lithopolis Ministerial Association, we regularly collect food and donations for the Canal Winchester Food Pantry. The first Sunday of each month, we hand out paper grocery bags with a list of items needed at the Food Pantry. Items are returned to the church and delivered by volunteers to the pantry itself. The Pantry also regularly receives financial donations from church members and people from the church regularly volunteer at the Pantry.
Working with Lutheran Social Services of Ohio, this congregation also partners with Faith Mission in downtown Columbus. Offering three meals a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, Faith Mission provides care for the homeless, indigent and needy in the downtown area. As they celebrate fifty years of ministry, we provide food and volunteers to this mission.
